Identifying Archaeological Sites in Woodland

Forestry Commission Scotland have recently published Identifying the historic environment in Scotland's forests and woodlands.  Written by Matthew Ritchie and Jonathan Wordsworth, it is a practice guide to enable land managers to investigate, identify and record the historic environment in their woodlands, so that wherever possible these remains are conserved.  The guide can be downloaded by clicking here, but as this is a 5 mb file you may prefer to buy a printed copy for £6.50 from Forestry Commission Scotland, 231 Corstorphine Road, Edinburgh, EH12 7AT.  Tel. 0131 334 0303.
