Annual Excursions

Each year we hold an Excursion to a different part of Scotland or northern England.  This is generally held in late April or early May and runs from a Wednesday evening to a Saturday lunchtime.  The current format comprises a formal seminar on the first evening followed by two and a half days of field visits.  These events are always well attended and are a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and discuss woodland matters informally.  The whole point of the NWDG is that people join as individuals, rather than as representatives of an organisation, so the opinions they express at the excursion are personal rather than corporate.  This leads to some very interesting and fruitful discussion.

We try to keep costs as low as we can, to encourage people to attend.

The AGM is held during the excursion, and there is also a ceilidh giving members a further opportunity to let down their hair.

Past venues for the Excursion include Lochaber, Perthshire, Skye, Arran, Deeside and the Lake District.
