Western Pinewoods : a joint Excursion with the Pinewood Managers' Group

The theme for the 2009 Excursion was Western Pinewoods, to mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of 'The Pinewoods of Scotland' by Stephen and Carlisle. It was based in Lochaber with visits to woodlands in Glen Loy and Cona Glen together with a boat trip on Loch Shiel to look at woodlands on the loch shores. On the Wednesday evening we held a formal seminar on the past, present and future of pinewoods and pinewood groups. A great time was had by all - many thanks to Ruth Anderson for organising it and to all the participants for joining in the discussions and making this a memorable and successful event.
